Paper mill (so called "Papirnya") in Radomyshl is the first paper factory in Ukraine that produced paper for orthodox book printing. It was founded by archimandrite Eelesey Pletenetsky (1550-1624) in 1612. As early as 1616 Radomyshl paper was used in printing of the first book in Kyiv "Chasoslov". Paper, produced in Radomyshl, was white-grey, has its own watermarks and can be stored for many centuries whereas such materials as linen, nettle and hemp were used in its production. Paper mill "Papirnya" of Kiev Pechersk Lavra was a monopolistic manufacturer of paper for orthodox printing houses for several dozens of years.
